Terms of Service

ChatMyBook is operated by Real No Existe LLC ("we," "us," or "our"), a California company. By using ChatMyBook at chatmybook.com, you agree to these Terms of Service. Please read them — they're written to be understood, not to confuse you.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using ChatMyBook in any way, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service. These Terms apply to all users — authors who create chat pages, and readers who use them.

2. What ChatMyBook Does

ChatMyBook lets authors upload a book manuscript and create a public chat page where readers can ask questions about the book. The chat is powered by AI, which reads the manuscript and generates responses based on its content.

Authors pay a monthly subscription to create and maintain chat pages. Readers use those chat pages for free — no account required.

3. Account Registration

To create a chat page as an author, you need to register for an account. When you do:

• You must provide accurate information (name, email address).
• You must be at least 18 years old, or the legal age of majority in your jurisdiction.
• You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure.
• You may not share your account with others or create accounts on behalf of someone else without their permission.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

4. Acceptable Use

Authors

• You must own or have the rights to any manuscript you upload. Uploading content you don't have rights to — including someone else's book, plagiarized material, or content that infringes a copyright — is strictly prohibited.
• You may not use ChatMyBook to distribute harmful, illegal, defamatory, or obscene content.
• You may not attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or misuse the platform.
• You may not use the service for spam, phishing, or any fraudulent purpose.

Readers

• Use chat pages only for legitimate questions about the book.
• Do not attempt to manipulate, jailbreak, or misuse the AI chat system.

We may remove content or terminate accounts that violate these rules, without notice.

5. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer

The chat responses on ChatMyBook are generated by artificial intelligence based on the uploaded manuscript. While we do our best to make responses accurate and helpful, AI is not perfect. Responses may contain errors, omissions, or misrepresentations of the book's content, and may occasionally produce content not present in the manuscript.

ChatMyBook does not guarantee the accuracy of any AI-generated response. Readers should treat chat responses as a helpful guide, not a definitive representation of the book. Authors acknowledge this limitation when publishing a chat page.

6. Subscription Terms

ChatMyBook charges authors $9.99 per month, per book.

• Billing: Subscriptions are billed monthly through Stripe, starting on the date you activate a book.
• Cancellation: You can cancel at any time from your account dashboard. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period.
• No partial refunds: We do not issue refunds for unused portions of a billing period. After you cancel, your chat page remains active until the end of the period you've already paid for.
• Failed payments: If a payment fails, we may suspend your chat page until the outstanding balance is resolved.
• Price changes: We'll give you at least 30 days' notice before changing subscription pricing.

7. Data Retention After Deletion

When you delete a book or close your account, your manuscript, book configuration, and associated chat logs will be permanently deleted within 7 days. Billing records may be retained longer as required by law or our agreements with payment processors. We do not retain manuscript data longer than necessary to provide the service.

8. Intellectual Property

Your content is yours. Uploading a manuscript to ChatMyBook does not transfer ownership of your work to us. You retain all rights to your manuscript.

By uploading content, you grant Real No Existe LLC a limited license to process and use that content solely to operate the ChatMyBook service — specifically, to power the AI chat page you've created. We will not use your manuscript for any other purpose, including training AI models.

The ChatMyBook platform, brand, and technology are owned by Real No Existe LLC. Nothing in these Terms gives you a right to use our trademarks or intellectual property.

9. Termination

Either party may end this relationship at any time. You may cancel your account through the dashboard or by contacting us. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or for any other reason with reasonable notice. Upon termination, your access to the service ends and data deletion follows the timeline in Section 7.

10. Limitation of Liability

ChatMyBook is provided "as is." To the fullest extent permitted by law, we make no warranties — express or implied — about the reliability, accuracy, or fitness of the service for any particular purpose. Real No Existe LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of ChatMyBook. Our total liability to you for any claim will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 3 months prior to the claim. Some jurisdictions don't allow certain liability limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of ChatMyBook will be resolved in the courts located in California.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last Updated" date at the top and notify active account holders by email at least 14 days before major changes take effect. Continued use of ChatMyBook after that notice period constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
