ChatMyBook is operated by Real No Existe LLC ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have over it. We've written it in plain English because we think you should actually be able to read it.

1. Who This Applies To

This policy covers two types of users:

2. What Data We Collect

Authors

When you create an account and use ChatMyBook, we collect:

Readers

Readers don't need an account. When you use a ChatMyBook chat page, we collect:

We do not collect IP addresses for tracking purposes, and we do not build reader profiles.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use the data we collect to provide and operate ChatMyBook, power the AI chat pages authors create, process subscription payments, and send account-related emails such as receipts and important notices.

We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use your manuscript or chat data to train AI models. Your content is used solely to power the chat page you've created.

4. Third-Party Services

ChatMyBook uses the following third-party services to operate. Each has its own privacy practices, which we encourage you to review:

Service Purpose Privacy Policy
Supabase Database and authentication supabase.com/privacy
Stripe Payment processing stripe.com/privacy
Resend Transactional email resend.com/legal/privacy-policy
Vercel Hosting and AI infrastructure vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy
Google OAuth login (optional) policies.google.com/privacy

We share only the minimum data necessary with each provider for them to perform their function.

5. Reader Email Capture

Authors may optionally enable an email capture feature on their chat page. If enabled, readers may be prompted to provide their email address. Any email submitted is stored and accessible only to the author of that book. ChatMyBook does not use, contact, or market to readers via these email addresses, and reader emails are not shared with any other author or third party.

The decision to enable email capture and how to communicate its purpose to readers is the author's responsibility.

6. Cookies and Tracking

We do not use advertising cookies or allow third-party trackers on ChatMyBook. Reader chat sessions use browser session storage only to maintain the conversation during a single visit — this data disappears when the browser tab is closed and is not used for tracking. Authors may have a standard authentication cookie to maintain their logged-in session.

7. Data Retention

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. When you delete a book or close your account, the associated manuscript, configuration, and chat logs are permanently deleted within 7 days. Billing records may be retained longer as required by law or our payment processor agreements. Reader session data expires automatically at the end of each session.

8. Your Rights

Regardless of where you live, you can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data by contacting us at support@chatmybook.com. We will respond within 30 days.

California Residents (CCPA)

California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect and how it's used, request deletion of that information, and opt out of the sale of personal information — though we do not sell personal information. You will not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

EU/EEA Residents (GDPR)

If you are in the EU or EEA, you have additional rights under GDPR: the right to access, rectify, erase, or port your data, and the right to object to its processing. Our legal basis for processing author data is performance of our contract with you. For reader session data, our basis is legitimate interest in operating the service. If you have unresolved concerns, you have the right to contact your local data protection authority.

9. Data Security

We use reasonable technical measures to protect your data, including HTTPS encryption, secure authentication, and access controls. No system is 100% secure, so we encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your account.

10. Children's Privacy

ChatMyBook is not intended for anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the service evolves. When we make meaningful changes, we'll update the "Last Updated" date and notify account holders by email. Continued use of ChatMyBook after notice of changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
